Today, Charlie Sheen and his wife were all over entertainment news once again. I find it interesting that the media seems to be attacking his wife when he was the one who was proven to be in the wrong. Its also funny to compare to Tiger Woods. For cheating on his wife he lost everything. Instantly endorsements were taken away that he received for being an amazing golfer, NOT an ideal husband. Now, look at Charlie Sheen. The week after being arrested for attacking his wife, holding a knife to her throat, and threatening to kill her, his tv show received a ratings all time high. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Tiger Woods is a good guy either but I guess I'm just not sure what the difference is between him and Charlie Sheen...
It's funny how people differentiate between things like this. They can be so similar in nature, and yet we treat them like they are worlds apart, condemning one and praising the other, for the same issue. I find it amazing how big of a hypocrite our country can be. Honestly, I don't think that what someone does in their personal life should matter to anyone else. Everyone has shit in their past, and none of us get publically humiliated about it like celebrities do. They are no different from the average person. Unfortunately for them, they are stuck in the lime light. Yes, our country has certain morals and values that we'd like to think that we uphold, but all we really do to uphold them is to point fingers at those that are called out for it, and ignore the fact that millions more people in our country do those exact same "immoral" acts and suffer little to no reprieve for it. The only thing these actors are truly guilty of is keeping up with the popular trends of our society, one of which happens to be cheating.
ReplyDeleteI guess maybe we want to think Tiger Woods is a better guy. In the past, Charlie Sheen has been regarded as a bad husband. We all imagined TW's as being a real good husband and a person who would never do anything wrong. So i guess thats the difference. For the most part, we already viewed Charlie Sheen as being deviant and alcoholic and possibly other things. TW's on the other hand seemed like a clean and ideal man who almost never received ridicule in the media, only praise. It will be interesting to see how everything pans out with TW's
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that Charlie Sheen is such a bad husband since he plays the role as a guy who will never marry in two and a half men. His character in that show has him always playing the field with new woman all the time. I feel like his role seems to be a part of his lifestyle. Because everytime I hear about him in the news lately has to do with having children with Denise richards and then divorcing due to violence then he re-marry's has a kid and is falling into the same cycle? Sorry Charlie but this is not looking good for you many anger and relationship managemnt classes are needed for you in your future. And as for Tiger maybe his lesson is now being learned to keep it in his pants. What's that number even at now? Whatevr it is it's 1 too many because for a classy guy like Tiger he should have stayed true to his wife cause look what it cost him.
